Kestrel Catch is a little article we're writing throughout the year to keep campers updated on what’s happening at Kestrel Lodge Campsite. It’s pinned up on the site for a bit of reading while you're washing the pots. Additionally, it's available online for those who want to read it back at their tent or are planning a visit soon!
See the full article on the attached pdf or there's a shorter snippet below.
Our first season here together!
This is our second Kestrel Catch update, but it's been our first summer season, both of us together at Kestrel Lodge Campsite. We've loved the summer at Kestrel Lodge and hope you have too! Read the blog above to find out more, we're we talk about;
Glamping Development
The three new glamping units were landscaped, furnished, and named (Foot O’ Skiddaw, Wainwrights Den, and Lil’ Cockup). Camp kitchens built and native hedges were added for comfort, ground development and privacy.
The Summer Season
Work on site moves from maintenance to mowing, strimming, cleaning facilities, restocking the shop, customer check ins, reception, chatting with guests, and general upkeep of the campsite. The dry summer made for great outdoor evenings around the firepits, and we've loved hearing about all your adventures this year at Kestrel Lodge.
New Additions
Runner ducks joined the campsite family! They've provided entertainment and (hopefully) future eggs for the honesty shop, alongside the chickens.
Winter Projects
As we head into Autumn, we start to think about our winter project plans again from adding heating to the toilets, re-plumbing the pot wash with frost-proof pipes, painting, hedge cutting, frost-proofing the site, repairing the fencing on site and land drains.
Our Adventures
We try to take a winter campervan break for us to recharge each year, so planning has begun for that too (it's often the Yorkshire Dales, but maybe Scotland or Northumberland this year). We're also like to challenge ourself to our own outdoor adventures after seeing you all enjoy your own through summer, this winter we're planning on doing the Cumbrian Way walk, plus possibly a long-distance cycling route. We're always open to ideas!
Thanks for reading and remember... We're still open! So hopefully we'll see some of you this winter... tents are open until the end of October, and the availability for the Landpod's and Campervan's will always be shown on our website. We'll only close if there is a big maintenance project planned (so it doesn't disturb you too much) or if we're off on an adventure of our own!
